Granbury is located along US Highway 377 just 37 miles Southwest of Fort Worth. This suburban community in Hood County has a population of close to 10,000 and is situated along the Brazos River. Granbury Students are served by Granbury Independent School District, home to 6 Elementary Schools, 2 Middle Schools, and 2 High Schools.
The town is a wonderful place for families of all ages to grow due to its’ lower-than-average crime rate and 5 local parks. Granbury was rightfully named 1 of 210 “Most Charming Towns and Villages” in America. History of Granbury, TX
In 1866 Hood County was carved out of Johnson and Erath Counties. The riverfront land donated by J.H. Nutt became the town of Granbury, named after General Hiram Bronson Granbury who led Confederate troops from this area into battle during the Civil War.
The first Methodist Church and the first School were both established in 1871, which started the growth of the town. In 1969 a dam was built on the Brazos river, forming the well-love Lake Granbury. By 1990 Granbury had a population of over 4,000 and has grown to almost 10,000 since that time.
